When Caregiver Becomes the Patient

June 9, 2019

Those of you who know me well know that the last two years have been a medical nightmare for me.  The good news is there is light at the end of that tunnel.  A surgery in my future.

Since caregiving has become a big part of my life again, although in a reverse roll, the book I wrote in 2014 has reclaimed my attention.  Being a semi-invalid has caused me to relish activities that were once at the bottom of my TO DO list.

I am delighted to show you my new and improved website.  One I can actually be proud of. Take a look.  Click on the link below. I ask you to hold my hand, but don’t rub it . . .

The Wishing Shelf Book Awards gave “More Than I Could Ever Know: How I Survived Caregiving” four stars.  “Full of wisdom and practical help for the caregiver. A RED RIBBON WINNER and highly recommended” they said, this group of British readers.Red_Ribbon_-_123rf“A perfect book for anybody who is a caregiver. I liked the style very much and the message was powerful and thoughtful” commented a 34-year-old female reader.

“A short read but, nevertheless, very powerful stuff. I liked the carousel analogy and the key tips at the end. There’s a lot of wisdom in here and practical help for any caregiver. The One Widow Two Lists chapter was particularly well done,” said a female reader, aged 51.

Caregiving Like It Is

February 2, 2015

Honest caregiver talk Part 2 hits home.  Listen to this chat to overcome that isolated, overwhelmed feeling. Rebecca asks such probing questions.  I told it all.  Try to forget what has changed.  Don’t stew about the future.  Focus on the golden moments.  An inspiring estate sale around Mt. Tabor Park.  An artist who left behind an ink and white paper drawing.

Soothing Talk on Saturday Mornings

December 15, 2014

Rebecca’s words will flow over you like a relaxation tape.  You can close your eyes and just listen.  She talks about caregiving.  She knows a lot about taking care of people and so do her guests.  Her interviews with other caregivers are chats about their personal journeys through grief, loss and decision-making.

“Do what you love and do it with love” is the motto of Lifestyle Improvement Radio KLAY 1180.  It’s on at 8 AM Pacific Time on Saturdays, but the interviews are available anytime you have a few minutes.  My interview will air in January.
